The club was founded on June 14, 1914. They won the Campeonato Catarinense in 1947, 1948, 1951, 1952, and in 1971.[1] The club merged its football department with Caxias-SC's football department on January 29, 1976, to form Joinville Esporte Clube.
América Futebol Clube played their home games at Estádio Olímpico Sadalla Amin Ghanem. The stadium had a maximum capacity of 2,500 people.
